Suggestions to fix
Subscription Problems

Having problems with your subscription?  Read the information below and see if it helps.  If all else fails, try using the Feedback forms in the Help section on YahooGroups main page http://groups.yahoo.com/

To join the list, click here.  Enter your E-mail address in the box.  You will be asked to create a Yahoo ID if you don't already have one.   If you do not already have a yahoo ID, click on the "sign up now" hyperlink and create an ID for yourself. (Be sure to review the information on your Yahoo ID card. Click on "Edit Your Marketing Preferences". When you get to the Marketing Preferences page, read through it and make sure to check "no" if you don't want your name, address and/or phone number sold. The default is "yes", so don't skip this step unless you like lots of junk mail!)

Once you have done that, go back to the http://groups.yahoo.com/group/quiltersbee/  page and sign in. This will take you to the Description page. Click on "edit my membership" on the upper right hand side. On the bottom of that page, you will be able to choose your membership options. You can also select to receive E-mail in HTML or text format. If you select text format, you will not receive picture ads from yahoo on the bottom of every E-mail, which might speed your download time a little.

You will then get a "membership pending" page. (I have to manually approve all memberships, which I hope will keep spammers out!) In the upper right hand section of that page is the "Account Info" hyperlink. Click on that, sign in again, then review the information on your Yahoo ID card. Click on "Edit Your Marketing Preferences". When you get to the Marketing Preferences page, read through it and make sure to check "no" if you don't want your name, address and/or phone number sold. The default is "yes", so don't skip this step unless you like lots of junk mail!

To eliminate the advertisements that are in your list email messages, go to your My Groups page and click on Edit My Group, then E-mail Preferences. Click on the Options button to the right of your E-mail address. Then look for "Message Format Convert to HTML" Make sure this section is NOT checked. The "Do not convert to HTML"" box *should* be checked. While you are there, uncheck the box allowing yahoo to share your mailing address unless you really don't mind lots of unsolicited E-mail. Then be sure to click on Save Changes.

Attachments are not permitted to be sent to the list. Use the Yahoo Groups shared picture file - and be sure to let the group know so we can all go on a field trip! See directions below.

Be sure that your computer is set to accept cookies from Yahoo.  That is how Yahoo identifies you when you return to that page to change your settings, access links or visit the photo album.

Is your address unverified?  Go to the group website at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/quiltersbee/ and click on "MY GROUPS". Near the top of the screen that comes up, you'll find a yellow Alert box that says you have "1 unverified address" if this is the case.  To correct this, click on the "EMAIL PREFERENCES" link.  If you do not see the address you wish to receive your digest at, CLICK ON THE "ADD/EDIT EMAIL ADDRESSES". You'll have to sign in to yahoo at this point.

  • On the next screen, fill out the form and on the section for email addresses, on the top line where it says "alternate email--PRIMARY", type in the address you want to use to receive your mail. Check that circle to set it to that address, then click below it where it says to click here to verify.
  • On the next screen, click on the button to verify. Before you click on the "Go Back to Yahoo" link, Launch another browser window by clicking the Explorer or Netscape link on your desktop.  Open that email account and look for the email from Yahoo that tells you to verify.  Hit the reply button and send back a BLANK email. Close that window and NOW click on the "Go Back to Yahoo" link. It should say NORMAL under status next to your email address. If not, give it a minute and refresh the screen.
  • Click on "Edit My Groups" and set the Quiltersbee group to receive regular mail or digest, then "save changes". You're done.

If you do see the address you wish to receive at, click on the blue link under it that says VERIFY ADDRESS .

To change your settings, go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/quiltersbee/  You will need to sign into yahoo first. If you do not already have a yahoo ID,  follow the directions above.  You can switch from individual messages to digest via email command. BUT the email command must come from the email address you used to subscribed to the list. Send a blank email (nothing in the body or subject line) to: quiltersbee-digest@yahoogroups.com   Mail changes are not usually immediate.  Give it at least a day to change.

Attachments can't be sent to the list. Use the Yahoo Groups shared picture file - and be sure to let the group know so we can all go on a field trip! See directions at http://www.Quiltersbee.com/qbjoin.htm#Using

If you later decide to join the list with a new E-mail address, first unsubscribe the old address, then go to http://www.quiltersbee.com/qbjoin.htm  and put your new address in the "join" box. A message will be sent to your new E-mail address giving you a link to directly join the list. Then follow the directions above as if you were a new member.

Click here to read messages from the web rather than have them delivered to your mailbox.  Choose EXPAND MESSAGES at the top of the list of message names.  This will open all the messages at once instead of one at a time.

Archives:  To find a post in the archives, sign in  and then go to messages and enter your inquiry in the message search.  Or click expand messages to look for a specific post.  The date of the digest helps but is not necessary.
